Thesis Title:
SEARCHING FOR MEANING — A DISCUSSION SERIES OF TOPICS OF ULTIMATE INTEREST:
Based On The Teachings Of Abraham Joshua Heschel (2006)

Abstract:
The teachings of Abraham Joshua Heschel serve well as a vehicle to meet the intellectual and emotional needs of inquiring Jews. His wisdom provides the basis for those Jews to participate in deeper Jewish learning, to understand how to live like a Jew with meaning and how to address personal questions from a grounded Jewish philosophical perspective. In this paper, texts from Heschel’s essays, books, articles, lectures, and conversations are studied as the basis for discussions exploring important topics of Jewish inquiry. Using Heschel’s writings and comments, such discussion sessions can bring enlightenment and understanding for participants who seek to bring deeper meaning to Jewish living. The sessions can be used as a series for a course of study or individually for particular occasions or workshops.
