Jules King received  his BS in Management from Franklin  Pierce  University  in New Hampshire.  He also graduated Wayne State University, School of Mortuary Science  and has practiced  as a  licensed Funeral Director and Consultant. Jules’ business background includes working for Fortune 500 companies  as well as non-profit  organizations.  This combination  has led him to much success  as an entrepreneur  in business and synagogue life.

Jules founded Temple Har Shalom of ldyllwild,  California as a  student rabbi and went on to launch Desert Outreach  Synagogue  (DOS) in Rancho Mirage,  California.  He is especially  humbled and grateful  to all the wonderful  people who supported  his efforts with much love and encouragement,  making DOS the fastest growing  congregation   in the desert. Under his leadership  DOS outgrew  its initial location  and now meets at the Palm Valley School in Rancho Mirage. The congregation  prides itself on inclusivity,  diversity, and  a place to call home for interfaith couples and families, unaffiliated,  secular, and anyone looking to engage or renew their connection to Judaism. Jules’ thesis explores the alternative synagogue in today’s  world.

Jules is also an accomplished musician, pianist and organist, and loves spinning.

I am extremely grateful to AJRCA for the incredible support and encouragement which has helped me reach this amazing day and achieve this goal in my life. I am thankful for my congregation, Desert Outreach Synagogue, who cheered me on my journey;  to my husband, Carlos, who always believed in me and has been fierce in his Jove and support;  Serena and Aiden  and my wonderful family, your constant love sustains  me. I am blessed and so fortunate!

Upon ordination,  Rabbi King will continue to serve Desert Outreach  Synagogue  of Rancho Mirage.  He will also begin his doctoral studies in Spiritual Renewal, Contemplative Practice and Strategic Leadership at Claremont School of Theology.
