Rabbi Brous asks why this parashah begins with an ending—the ending of 2 years of suffering and darkness. Abraham passed away message of future suffering to Isaac, who passed it to Jacob. Jacob died, having only passed it on to Joseph. However, the prophecy ultimately does not end in darkness, but in happiness.
