The fight for religious freedom is as important today as it was 2000 years ago, not only for Jews, but for people of all faiths.  Despite the United Nations’ Universal Declaration of Human Rights, religious liberty is at risk in many parts of the world, for many faiths.  The light of the menorah represents a symbol of flame – it can give light and warmth, but can also burn and destroy.  Rabbi Sacks’ article, although written some years back, is still pertinent today, unfortunately.  As he says, ‘we need a global Chanukah – a festival of freedom for all of the world’s faith.”  Please follow the link below to read the full article:
