Thesis Title:
SOUL AND SPIRIT IN THE WORKPLACE:
THE CASE FOR INTERFAITH WORKPLACE CHAPLAINCY PROJECTED THROUGH A JEWISH LENS (2011)
Abstract:
Businesses are becoming more aware of the need for employee spiritual expression in the workplace, and these organizations present to the chaplaincy profession the opportunity for a new venue in which to provide pastoral care services. Business leaders of these organizations would be more accepting and welcoming of chaplains in the workplace if they were educated about the nature of spiritual care, specifically Jewish spiritual care and its potential benefits to the organization. This thesis explores the principles and qualities of a type of spiritual business called the Socially Responsible Organization and how its principles relate to Jewish tradition. It also describes the pastoral care profession and, specifically, Jewish pastoral care, and its potential to contribute to the wellbeing of an organization and its workers within.
